HOW MANY CLASSES OF ANIMALS ARE THERE?- Part II

All the other creatures created before Adam was, were named by him as his first task. Gen. 2: 19, 20. He was to have “dominion” (from the Hebrew radah, meaning, reign, rule), authority over all the earth and it creatures, exercising the same wise and gentle care of his Creator, having been created in the image and likeness of his Maker.

Kingdom comes from two words, “king” and “dominion.” The then perfect earth and its creatures “great and small” was originally designed to be Adam’s kingdom—not to domineer, exploit and abuse, much less to slaughter and eat.

God designed everything to perfection, including their respective digestive systems for their specified diets which never involved killing and the spilling of blood, for “the life of the flesh is in the blood.” Lev. 17:11. Before the fall and the curse of sin there were no “clean and “unclean” animals or man. All were physically and morally clean, for God “saw that everything was very good” at the end of creation week. Gen. 1: 31; 2: 1-6.

HOW MANY CLASSES OF ANIMALS ARE THERE?- Part I

Sounds trivial? Why ask this question at such a critical time when we ought to be focusing more sharply on the crucial issues of the closing events of earth’s history? Simply because it’s part of them, as we shall see.

First this: Pope Francis was recently quoted as saying that animals, particularly our beloved pets, have souls that go to heaven. Later they say that he was misquoted. See follow up story December 13, “Did Pope Francis really say all animals go to heaven?” by Brandon Ambrosino: www.vox.com). Rick Gladstone of the New York Times, December 14, (www.bostonglobe.com.) wrote (words in italics mine):

“Pope Francis has given hope to gays, unmarried couples and advocates of the Big Bang theory. Now, he has endeared himself to dog lovers, animal-rights activists and vegans. . . . Charles Camosy, an author and professor of Christian ethics at Fordham University, said it was difficult to know precisely what Francis meant, since he spoke in ‘pastoral language that is not really meant to be dissected by academics.’ But asked if the remarks had caused a new debate on whether animals have souls, suffer andgo to heaven, Camosy said, ‘In a word: Absolutely.’  Read more

TWO WORLDS, TWO SCHOOLS, THE HERE AND HEREAFTER

“If you would be a saint in heaven, you must first be a saint on earth.” And no one need  die first and wait for the church-invented process for sainthood to kick in, for, “Heaven is to begin on this earth.  When the Lord’s people are filled with meekness and tenderness, they will realize that His banner over them is love, and His fruit will be sweet to their taste. They will make a heaven below in which to prepare for heaven above.” (Words in quotes by E. G. White, Sons & Daughters, p. 112)

In the real, eternity-determining grand scheme of things, according to God’s Word, this fallen, cursed world of ours—the one planet in rebellion throughout the perfect universe, is not a grand parade-ground, a dream-like stroll through the park, a glitzy fashion show, a pull-out-the-stops party place, a global carnival, a romantic cruise through the warm tourists spots, or a winter wonderland—although the master deceiver wants it so perceived and imagined. Ask all who are suffering; they’ll tell you the stark truth by experience. Read more

TWO LAYMEN DISCIPLES TESTIFY TO THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

See Luke 24: 13-33. We may never be called to occupy a prominent place in Christ’s work but if we are earnest and honest believers in Him, we are His disciples with whom He walks and talks with through the Holy Spirit as we walk our personal dark, lonely “road to Emmaus.” But in time, we can also tell a wonderful story of our walk to Emmaus and say, in retrospect, when hindsight is 20/20, “Did not our hearts burn within us, while He talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the Scriptures?”

Christ is even now walking and talking with us, though we don’t immediately hear or recognize it, perhaps because of dwelling upon the dark shadow of the cross instead of its glorious, resurrection side! The beloved apostle says: “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1: 2-5, N.K.J.V. Read more

MOSES AND ELIJAH TESTIFY TO CHRIST’S TRANSFIGURATION

Like that of the two different exact mountain sites, where Aaron, Israel’s first high priest, then later, Moses, Israel’s greatest leader, died and were buried—the precise geographical location of where Christ was transfigured is likewise described by Wikipedia as “one of the unknowns of the New Testament.” Their editors were right.

Transfigured in the K.J.V. (Matt. 17: 2; Mark 9:2) is from the Greek metamorphoo, “to transform (lit. or fig.), metamorphose, change.” Metamorphose is from the Greek meta, “beyond, over” plus morphe,“form.” Here’s why these will remain unrevealed to fallen man: the first two were in order to prevent ancient Israel from yielding to the temptation to render idolatrous worship—not only over the dead bodies but also of converting their burial sites into holy shrines. Second, the silence of the Bible on the actual location of the transfiguration speaks for itself. It is the significance of the event regarding vital truths–not the location—necessitating the glorious appearance of two heavenly human agencies already in heaven—Moses and Elijah. Read more

A WILDERNESS OF TEMPTATION AND A GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE

Thank God! There is growing class of people upon earth who consider each day a day of Thanksgiving and spiritual growth—not merely a holiday that precedes “Black Friday that kicks off the start the wild Christmas shopping season”—that’s by their own words, not mine. Gratefully and joyfully, every true Christian—the spiritual Jew “whose circumcision is not of the flesh but of the heart” (Rom. 2: 28, 29), daily petitions God’s throne of grace for fresh provisions for the battle and the promised deliverance and victories over sin and temptation in and through Christ for that day and that day alone (1 Cor. 15: 57). The immediately thank God for answering their prayers. Do we belong to this class? As in the type, their numbers have and always will be in the minority.

Or are we part of the vastly numerically superior class—the constant murmurers, sighers, and complainers who seem to have lost all reason and ability to thank and praise God for His unnumbered unmerited favors and blessings. They are the antitypical hard-hearted, ungrateful Israelites, so wonderfully delivered by God’s miraculous acts from their centuries-long Egyptian [sin] bondage and were in the process of being de-programmed of their acquired slavish and idolatrous habits and tastes; were being tested, trained, and fitted by God in their Wilderness passage and experience, not merely to inherit the “land flowing with milk and honey” but more specially to be God’s representatives to the heathen Canaanites of the earthly Promised land—what today is the whole country west of the Jordan known as Palestine. TWO SUPERNATURAL AGENCIES WORKING FOR OR AGAINST US

In this mini-series on angels—both the heavenly and the evil ones—we aim to:

    1. Become even more conscious of and discerning of the two kinds of angels contending against each other right in our midst every moment of the day. They are:  a) our guardian-recording angels, belonging to the loyal two-thirds of the heavenly host under the command of Michael the Archangel—Jesus Christ’s title as their Commander-in-Chief (Rev. 12: 7-9; Dan. 10: 13, 21; 12: 1; Jude 9), and their appointed work in the plan of redemption and in the cosmic conflict, so we can intelligently co-operate with these supernatural ministers, avoiding doing anything that may grieve them away.

For when “the wall of protection,” departs from us, we are left as sport of: b) the fallen angels, the devils, the evil spirits, numbering one-third of the original number who lost the first war, in heaven (Rev. 12: 4) who are under the command of “the great dragon, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world.” Rev. 12: 9.
