End-Time Tower Builders and Idolaters

QUOTES FOR THE WEEK

“It is as easy to make an idol of false doctrines and theories as to fashion an idol of wood or stone.”

“The men of Babel had determined to establish a government that should be independent of God. . . . The monument to their pride became the memorial of their folly.”

— Both from the inspired pen of Ellen G. White

Every rationally-minded Christian already knows it by heart. Reminders not needed.

So think those who, in their hearts, say, “I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ Read more

Blind Spot: Why seeing is not always believing

Because it pleases us, we believe what we want to believe—even if the preponderance of acceptable evidence and the testimony of credible witness prove otherwise. While unbelief is the obvious symptom, the unconverted heart is the not-too-obvious but real problem. To make matters worse, we misdiagnose the symptom as the cause and try to “cure” it only to be met with temporary relief, if at all, and the same if not a worse situation prevails. Thus untreated, it eventually reaches a deadly “point of no remedy.” Read more

Is our religion the religion of man? or of Christ and the Bible?

FRIDAY MORNING MANNA

Is our religion the religion of man? or of Christ and the Bible?

“God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man that He should repent; hath He said, and shall not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall He not make it good?” Numbers 23: 19.

To anyone first reading this column and wonders who and what are paramount and supreme in all its articles and reports, look no further. First, it is God the Father in Christ Jesus as revealed in the wonders of creation but especially in the Bible through enlightenment of the Holy Spirit upon the mind of the searcher, and, the plan of redemption of the gospel. So before we return to the topic of the series, consider the following from the inspired pen of Ellen G. White, based on the Bible which more than adequately articulates the foregoing:   Read more

The Beginning and the End: The Old and the New

Then He who sat on a throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said to me, Write for these words are true and faithful. And He said to me, It is done! I Am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.” Rev. 21 5-7, N.K.J.V.

All too quickly the old year ends in two days from this last Friday of 2017, and the New Year 2018 begins. Like sunset, then sunrise…..and a new day begins in your life and mine. Or are we meeting, actually beginning the New Year with the “same old, same old” mentality, bad habits, unChristlike traits, pride and vanity, “the works of the flesh” instead of the “fruits of the spirit,” into the next year? Will it be really new? In what sense?   Read more

The Acts of Apostleship Continues Until the Work is Done

Ye are are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men; forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart. 2 Corinthians  3: 2, 3, K.J.V.

Great Controversy by Ellen G. White, (1911 ed.), pp.  54-56:

“In the sixth century the papacy became firmly established. Its seat of power was fixed in the imperial city, and the bishop of Rome was declared to be the head over the entire church. Paganism had given place to the papacy [the great apostasy of the church in the union of church and state]. The dragon [pagan Rome] had given to the beast ‘his power, and his seat, and great authority.’ Rev. 13: 2.  And now began the 1260 years of papal oppression foretold in the prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation Dan. 7: 25; Rev. 13: 5-7. CHRISTIANS were forced to choose either to yield their integrity and accept the papal ceremonies and worship, or to wear away their lives in dungeons or suffer death by the rack, the fagot, or the headsman’s axe. The Holy Spirit: do we really know Him? – Part VI

HOW TO RETAIN THE HOLY SPIRIT

John 3: 1-21. If from a genuine conversion one has satisfied the conditions Christ specified to Nicodemus on how to enter the kingdom of God—by watery death-by-immersion-baptism (Rom. 6: 3-6; Matt. 3: 13-17), and receiving the Holy Spirit, experiencing Him as the Bible describes His role, various manifestations, and work in the plan of salvation, as Christ’s Successor—how do we retain His fullness so that He can continuously bear in us His nine fruits (Gal. 5: 22, 23) to maturation on the difficult way and narrow gate that results in character perfection (Matt 7: 13, 14; 5: 48)?

First, the Holy Spirit is the only Godhead-appointed Imparter of the divine nature to all who, by child-like faith receive Jesus Christ as their Substitute and surety, Read more

The Holy Spirit: do we really know Him? – Part V

For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and the holy place, with him who has a  of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the hearts of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57: 15, N.K.J.V.

Are We Preparing for the Latter Rain?– Part XXXVII

A Sabbath-Keeping People (conclusion)

To all freedom-loving Americans at heart, Happy July Fourth! This annual American federal holiday isthe official day commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom (Great Britain). The original declaration was prepared on July 2 by a Committee of Five, its principal author being Thomas Jefferson, assisted by John Adams, second president of the U.S., and leading advocate of the independence movement.  The Continental Congress then debated on it, revised its wording and approved it on July 4. Today we celebrate the 238th  Memorial Day of that Declaration of Independence.
