Blind Spot: Why seeing is not always believing

Because it pleases us, we believe what we want to believe—even if the preponderance of acceptable evidence and the testimony of credible witness prove otherwise. While unbelief is the obvious symptom, the unconverted heart is the not-too-obvious but real problem. To make matters worse, we misdiagnose the symptom as the cause and try to “cure” it only to be met with temporary relief, if at all, and the same if not a worse situation prevails. Thus untreated, it eventually reaches a deadly “point of no remedy.” Read more

 QUOTE FOR THE WEEK

“It is beyond the power of the human mind to estimate the evil which has been wrought by the heresy of eternal torment.”

– E. G. White, Great Controversy, 1911 ed. p. 535.

No pun intended but a searing hot topic right now is the earth-shaking unintended recent revelation that  Francis, Read more

Is our religion the religion of man? or of Christ and the Bible?

FRIDAY MORNING MANNA

Is our religion the religion of man? or of Christ and the Bible?

“God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man that He should repent; hath He said, and shall not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall He not make it good?” Numbers 23: 19.

To anyone first reading this column and wonders who and what are paramount and supreme in all its articles and reports, look no further. First, it is God the Father in Christ Jesus as revealed in the wonders of creation but especially in the Bible through enlightenment of the Holy Spirit upon the mind of the searcher, and, the plan of redemption of the gospel. So before we return to the topic of the series, consider the following from the inspired pen of Ellen G. White, based on the Bible which more than adequately articulates the foregoing:   Read more

Christmas 2017 and New Year 2018 Message

FRIDAY MORNING MANNA

Christmas 2017 and New Year 2018 Message

How would you say if your relatives and friends celebrated your birthday with you in your home by doting on everyone else except you, and doing everything else that had little or nothing to do with the significance of your birth? “Unbelievable.” And you are right.

But the majority of the Christmas revelers have been doing just that where the groundwork for our eternal salvation from sin by the Creator eternally becoming a man of the same flesh and blood nature subject to all temptations man is beset with—the mysterious incarnation, not through Mary’s alleged “Immaculate conception”— but by the plan of redemption, is concerned. Rejoice: the Spiritual Apostolic Succession Remains Unbroken!

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus. Hebrews 3: 1, K.J.V.

From the most comprehensive and inclusive sense possible, based on the preponderance of both Scripture and history evidence, this is how and who “the church that appears to fall but will not.” Why? It’s Cornerstone and Foundation has been from birth, none other than Jesus Christ, the Creator-incarnate, the Master Apostle and High Priest of its faith. His chosen follower-disciples-apostles through centuries of gross moral and doctrinal darkness, superstition, and bitter persecution, have steadily and progressively built this church-temple, empowered by the Holy Spirit and ministered to and defended from all that Satan’s “gates of hell” have schemed and attacked it by. Thyatira: Only One of the Seven Containing Recognition of Improvement

Thyatira:  Only One of the Seven Containing Recognition of Improvement

I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works: and the last to be more than the first. Rev.2: 19, K.J.V.

“As applied to Christian history, the message[s] to Thyatira [Rev. 2: 18-29] is particularly appropriate to experience of the church during the Dark Ages,” 538-1798 A.D. “The Dark Ages proved to be a time of surpassing difficulty for those who truly loved and served God” [as it will be in the closing, rapid final events of earth’s probation just ahead of our final generation], “and the Thyatira period may well be called the Age of Adversity. Because of persecution the flame of truth flickered and nearly went out” [had not God shortened the Dark Ages with the rise of the Protestant Reformation led by Martin Luther in Germany about a quarter of century before 1798. Matt. 24: 21, 22. Read more

God’s Love is for ‘Every Nation, Kindred, Tongue, and People’ for All Time, not Just on Valentine’s Day

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject of ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it.

– Samuel Johnson, famous English lexicographer

Apostle Paul’s famous love chapter, 1 Corinthians 13 concludes on the 13th verse: And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these three is love ”—not faith nor hope! This love, certainly never eros, not even the nobler philos, is alone tightly bundled with Biblicalfaith, which always “works by love” (Gal. 5: 6,)  “the hand that appropriates Christ’s merits and remedies for sin” (DA 175), and that hope  grounded in God’s word and promises (Rom. 15: 4; Titus 1: 2, etc.). This belongs to those who possess it by living experience, not mere talk. Read more

SUMMARY OF NUMBER TWO IN THE BIBLE – Part IX

“Can two walk together unless they be agreed?” (Amos: 3: 3)? Yes, but such a  relationship is forced and coerced rather than forged by every reason other than mutual love, respect, understanding, subscribing to the same Biblical principles that shape their individual priorities, values, choices, and decisions in life. It is based on temporary convenience, self-serving advantages, thus, purely of outward appearance. Such a relationship will never bear the genuine fruits of the Spirit defined in Galatians 5: 22, 23, as God designed it to be—whether in a marriage relationship or church relationship.  Such a life journey is a lonely, even nightmarish walk through a dark jungle. In summary, certainly not limited to the examples cited in these series but by time and space, we highlight the significance of number two in the Bible as stated at the outset, with the following: Read more

Conversion and Renovation. After true conversion (and reconversion, whenever necessary), the Christian’s path forward is growth, character renovation (or perfection, Matt. 5: 48, K.J.V.)—a progressive process of a lifetime covering the whole person–mind, heart, body, and spirit (vital principle; mental disposition). In His wisdom and love, God converted fallen, cursed earth into the fitting-up place for Heaven–not some conjured-up place “between heaven and hell” called “Purgatory!”

Safe and Sound. It begins with deliverance from the despotic and enslaving power of sin— being saved (rescued, snatched) from the clutches of Satan, the tempter, deceiver, accuser, and destroyer of man. Rescued from this spiritually and physically degraded condition, the now “saved” soul is to be made sound—i.e., freed from defects; flawless. Read more

Are We Preparing for the Latter Rain?– Part XXV

A Loving People

The New Commandment of the Third Angel’s Message.  Jesus said, “This is My commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.  Ye are My friends, if you do whatsoever I command you.” John 15: 12-14, K.J.V.

Christ, through John, author of the gospel bearing his name, the three small epistles, and the last book of the Bible, wrote to the churches:  “Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye have heard from the beginning. . . .Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in Him and in you; because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.  He that saith he is in the light andhateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.” 1 John 2: 7- 9.  John continues, “He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer and ye know no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” 1 John 3: 14, 15. “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 1 John 4: 20.
