Quoted from Desire of Ages, Ellen G. White, “Give Ye Them to Eat,” chapter XXXIX, pp. 364-371, based on Matt. 14: 13-21; Mark 6: 32-44; Luke 9: 10-17; John 6: 1-13: —

“Christ had retired to a secluded place with His disciples, but this rare season of peaceful quietude was soon broken. The disciples thought they had retired where they would not be disturbed; but as soon as the multitude missed the divine Teacher, they inquired, ‘Where is He?’ . . . .The Passover was at hand, and, from far and near, bands of pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem gathered to see Jesus. Additions were made to their number, until there were assembled five thousand men besides women and children . .   Read more

Foolish Virgins Know the Truth but Destitute of the Holy Spirit

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

A man without knowledge, and I have read,

May well be compared to one that is dead.

THOMAS INGELEND, The Disobedient Child

From Christ’s Object Lessons by Ellen G. White, pp. 405, 406, 408, 409, 411, 412, 413, 414, based on Christ’s Parable of the Ten Virgins, Matthew 25: 1-14:

As Christ with His disciples is seated upon the Mount Olives, the sun had set behind the mountains, and the heavens were curtained with the shades of evening . . .  In many parts of the East, then and even now, wedding festivities are held in the evening. . . . In the scene upon which Christ and His disciples are gazing at, with the young evening as a  beautiful backdrop, they see a company awaiting the appearance of a bridal party, intending to join the procession. The Significance of Number Four and Forty in the Bible

FRIDAY MORNING MANNA

Biblical Numerology: NUMBER FOUR – Part I

The Significance of Number Four and Forty in the Bible

Jesus Christ, mankind’s only Savior and Mediator, is a God of order. The gentle “Shepherd and Bishop of our souls” (1 Pet. 2: 25) knows and numbers His sheep who also “know His voice and follow Him” (John 10: 4, 7, 11, 27, K.J.V.)

He “makes all things beautiful in His time” (Eccl.3: 11). He is the One whom the gospel prophet prophesied: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” Isa. 9: 6-9. Read more

The Three Mighty Truths Regarding the Holy Spirit

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Rom. 8: 26, 27, N.K.J.V.

French poet Charles Baudelaire said, “The greatest trick the devil pulled was fooling the world into believing that he does not exist.” Mark Twain wrote: “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.” Remember this familiar line? “If a man fools me once, shame on him; twice, shame on me.”   Read more

The ThIrd Person of the Godhead

FRIDAY MORNING MANNA

Biblical Numerology: NUMBER THREE- Part XLX

The ThIrd Person of the Godhead

One of the deadliest deceptions of the last days designed to “deceive, if possible, the elect” (Matt. 24: 24) is that the Holy Spirit is merely a divine “power,” “breath,” or “essence,” not a Person as much as the Father and Christ are distinct persons making up the heavenly Council of the Godhead. I avoid using the word “Trinity” as it has caused or has been made to be an unwarranted cause for false accusations of worshipping a “triune god.”  The Authorized Version uses “Godhead,” meaning, “that which is divine,” not angelic much less human. And only the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are divine. Notice the three instances the Godhead is mentioned in the Bible: Read more
